Well hello there! So it has obviously been very long since my last post. Like 10 months long. And I would say that a lot has happened in those 10 months which is why I have not been able to find the time to post. But I have set a goal to try to post more (I know how excited that probably makes anyone reading this right now).
It has been interesting, crazy, stressful, and awesome all at once adjusting to life with 3 children, working full time, and trying to train for races. At times I feel like I am doing okay, and other times I feel like I am doing nothing well at all. My children are always my number one priority but I always try to make time to run because I know I am a better me once I have run. A huge benefit to being a teacher is having the summer off and I am looking forward to this time off for a number of reasons. I am definitely excited to spend more time with my children. The boys will be in camp for half days for about 8 weeks, and Lina will be home with me as I attempt to get my house in order (attempt being the key word). Laundry (putting it away), cleaning the house, and keeping the house organized are so hard to balance when I am working. I am also looking forward to training for a fall marathon and not having to wake up at 4 am to run :)
I am seriously considering doing the Steamtown Marathon in Scranton, Pennsylvania on October 11, 2015 as my fall marathon. I ran this race in the fall of 2013 (race recap here) and the course chewed me up and spit me out. I want redemption. I swore that day that I would be back and run a BQ (Boston Qualifying time) on that course and I am thinking that may be my fall goal. I turn 40 in September and wanted to do something significant to celebrate this birthday. So a sub 3:40 for turning 40 could be my motto for this race. Actually, because I am turning 40, my Boston Qualifying time has increased to 3:45, but to give myself the extra time cushion (and because I am stubborn as hell), I want to run a sub 3:40 to qualify. Typically, my training has gone better in the summer because I am not also working dealing with the stress of my job along with focusing on the marathon training. So I figure now is as good as time as any to work towards this goal!
I have a lot more to talk about and once I decide on a fall race and begin my training I am hoping to post about that as well!
