So it has been way too long since I have written a post. I figured with having the summer off I would be able to write so much more and post more often but obviously that has not happened! Summer is flying by and I realized it was time to update all of you with how things are going.
For those of you that follow me on Facebook and Instagram, you know I am still running. Right now, I am averaging 6-7 miles 4-5 days a week which makes me very happy. I still feel good and am able to run the entire time without needing walk breaks (probably just jinxed myself there). My pace has dropped down to 10:30-10:45/mile but I am okay with that because I am still moving. With my previous two pregnancies, I was not able to run this much. With my first, I was due in June and I ran up to about 27 weeks. It was through the winter though and not consistent at all. With my second son I was due in April and I think I ran up to about 24-25 weeks. Again, I was pregnant through the winter and the running was not consistent at all. Plus, with both of these pregnancies I was working so it was hard to find time to run. I am fortunate this time around that I am off for the summer and have more time to run. I am taking it one day at a time because I know at any given time my body may not be able to handle it.
This is the first summer in about 9 years that I am not actively training for a fall race/marathon. At times I definitely envy those around me that are training. But it does not last long as I know this time next year I will be back in full marathon training mode. Plus, I am in training for another type of marathon that will be taking place early-mid November :) And I know she will be well worth it!
So how am I channeling my training envy? By planning out my Spring 2015 races of course. The first race I know I absolutely want to do is the Scranton Half Marathon on April 12, 2015. My husband did this race this past Spring and loved it. As a spectator I loved it as well and for me the best part was the runners finishing the 13.1 on the track in Scranton’s Memorial Stadium (like a true Olympian). All of our friends at the Scranton Running Company have a huge part in putting on this race and it is top notch from beginning to end!
Another race I am considering is the Delaware Marathon on May 10, 2015. I did this race in 2013 and loved it. It takes place on Mother’s Day and it was close enough that Eric and the boys came with me. The course is 2 loops which made it easy for Eric to maneuver with the double stroller and I was able to see them 5 times while I was running. It is a small race ( about 3000 runners total) and offers a full and half marathon as well as a 4 and 8 person relay option. The course is tough with some hills but I found them manageable. It is an extremely organized event, very family friendly, and the swag is awesome too!
That is all I have planned for right now. Eric and I will have to plan out our training and race schedules to make sure it will all work with 3 kids! We never do the same race as we like know the other half is out there on the course with the kiddies cheering us on at some point. It is such a morale booster to see them at some point, even if it is only at the finish! I will keep you all posted on my running, pregnancy, and my race plans!
